Resumo:
I will present an overview of research and ideas in visual aesthetics, focusing on beauty and liking. Topics addressed are the mere exposure effect, the perceptual fluency account, preferences for spatial layouts, colour preferences, and Zeki’s neuro-aesthetic views. Finally, I will present my plans for research at UFABC, addressing commonalities between 1) reward and aesthetics;
2) biological and abstract preferences;
3) beauty in different sensory modalities.
